Jason Reinhardt has purchased the former Snap Fitness and turned it into an express gym.
A second location of Go M.A.D. Fitness has opened in Monroe.
Owner Jason Reinhardt, a Monroe High School graduate and one-time Southern Michigan Timberwolves football player, purchased the former Snap Fitness located at 1539 N. Telegraph Rd.
He took over June 8 and has reinvested in the facility.
Go M.A.D., which stands for Make a Difference, continues to operate its flagship, 20,000-square-foot fitness center at 975 S. Monroe St.
The new center is 6,200 square feet, Mr. Reinhardt said.
“We will be offering reciprocal memberships for $10 a month for people to use both clubs,” Mr. Reinhardt said.
The larger center, formerly Powerhouse Gym, was turned into Go M.A.D. in 2013 after Mr. Reinhardt purchased the property from Richard Orndorf. Mr. Reinhardt opened a sports training center in Canton. The newest center is considered an “express club” because it is smaller.
“It’s a little uncommon to have two centers open so close to each other, but we think residents will be excited about the smaller, more intimate feel here,” Mr. Reinhardt said of the new site.
Del Pacheco, former owner of Curves, has joined the new site as its manager.
“We are excited to have her because she has history in the community and a lot of experience,” he said.
Lauren Roberts will serve as director of personal training.
The express club offers a variety of cardio equipment and free weights as well as tanning services.
Specialty classes like Bootcamp will be offered.
If members pay the additional $10 a month, they will have access to the additional classes and services provided at the Monroe St. location.
Since purchasing the property, Mr. Reinhardt has spruced up the club including replacing the belts and decks on the treadmills as well as repainting the place.
Customers of Snap Fitness will have their current memberships grandfathered.
“We will honor those membership rates,” Mr. Reinhardt said.
The owner had been eyeing the site for about a year and decided to make his move.
“I saw this as an opportunity to make even more of an impact on the community,” he said.
A grand opening with live entertainment and membership and training specials will take place at the fitness center in September.
