Reconstruction of part of Holloway Road, between Britton and Deerfield, is expected to start the week of Labor Day.

Reconstruction of Holloway, between Palmer and Bucholtz highways, is part of a two-year project being paid for with federal aid money, which requires hiring a private contractor. Michigan Paving and Materials Co. had the low bid of $1,204,305.31, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation, which managed the bidding.

Lenawee County Road Commission Managing Director Scott Merillat said the road commission and contractor had a preconstruction meeting earlier this week. The transportation director for the Britton Deerfield Schools also attended because Holloway is a major route between the district’s schools in Britton and Deerfield.

The project is scheduled to be finished by Oct. 13.

The second phase of the project will rebuild Holloway, from Palmer to Ridge Highway. It is scheduled for 2017.
