Welcome to the website for the Mackinac Journal, mackinacjournal.com, a magazine launched in July 2010 dedicated to Northern Michigan.
This periodical grew out of a desire to portray the unique sense of place offered by our region. The new Mackinac Journal presents something of what it means to live, work and play in this remarkable place –a place some of us are privileged to call home. There are many tourist-oriented publications serving our region. We don’t need to add something else geared towards visitors. Instead we want to create a platform to tell the story of this special area. You’ll find a selection of human interest stories and profiles in the Mackinac Journal every month, along with a variety of standing features.
The Mackinac Journal and mackinacjournal.com represent one of the best advertising values available to regional businesses. The nature of the magazine’s content provides greater shelf life than any other periodical product in the region. We have been getting letters and phone calls from all over the Midwest praising our efforts to create something new that reflects positively on the region.
Complimentary copies of the magazine are distributed in a 4-5 county area to ensure maximum advertiser reach. A small, but growing, paid subscriber base receives the product via periodical mail. The magazine’s website carries stories from the current issue and archives stories and advertising from past editions for a year. Current free distribution of the magazine in Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle and Mackinac County is available at approximately 200 outlets.
We want to offer area businesses a new way to reach customers through the presentation of a positive image of our area. And we want readers to gather a sense of this remarkable area.
